Welcome to the Imprometer

The only tool in the world for measuring what nobody measures.

The Imprometer — self-evaluation tools for improvisers

What's this about

"For everyone who finds 'I think that was better' somehow not quite enough."

There's no classic feedback in our classes. Deliberately — so that you don't start playing to the coach. This is time for experiments, mistakes and a thoroughly good time. The feedback hides in the group's laughter, and in the fact that once class is over it's somehow… hard to leave.

But… if you do want something more concrete than tears of laughter (or despair) — you're in the right place.

The Imprometer is a set of light-touch self-evaluation tools that hand you a thorough read on your skills, your attitudes, your humour and the way you work on stage — from the basics to the genuinely advanced. And it's free. Really free — your answers aren't the currency here. The Imprometer counts your results and sends you a report. That's everything it does with your data. An unfashionably honest approach, ugh!

And seriously: there's no other system like it in the world.

Quizzes and tests

Three are open to everyone. The rest — for people in the IMPROSapiens workshops.

IMPROV-SUPERFLOW

Adults🔓 open to everyone

Whether you're a PRO or your contact with improv stands at exactly zero minutes — this quiz is for you.

You don't need to know the rules of improv to have the skills that thrive in it. You may be completely green — and we'll show you how much you can already do. You may have been playing for years — then we'll find your strengths, and the corners where something is still waiting to be discovered. The quiz picks the questions, you click the answers, and the rest is handled by our Godzilla in a dachshund costume (an algorithm several thousand lines long).

IMPROV-SUPERFUN

Teenagers🔓 open to everyoneComing soon

You get to be yourself. Because you're GREAT! Seriously.

There's no template for being brilliant. You just have to reach for what you've already got. Find out what's running the show, what's still warming up, and what you can do with either. And give your ego a boost along the way.

MINI-SUPERPOWERS

Children🔓 open to everyoneComing soon

Every child can fly. In a rocket they built themselves.

Hey — we both know that sometimes you only pretend you know what you're doing, and you improvise like mad! And you know what? That's BRILLIANT! Because improvising is a real SUPERPOWER. You do it naturally, and adults have to learn it! This quiz helps you find which superpowers help you most to be exactly who you are. You'll be amazed how many you've got. More than all the superheroes put together!

COURAGE & RISK

1 tool🔒 IMPROSapiens

Because "I'm brave" sounds wonderful. As long as you're in an armchair with the popcorn.

Courage in improv isn't about not being afraid — it's about what you do while you are. This quiz looks at how you handle creative risk, expression, communication, emotion and social situations. Whether you leap into the unknown, or check the handrail fixings first. And where your personal line runs between "I'll give it a go" and "absolutely not".

ATTENTION & PRESENCE

1 tool🔒 IMPROSapiens

When your body is on stage, your mind would also be very welcome.

In improv you can look extremely actively present while being intensively 🙈 🙉 🙊. This tool checks the skills without which improv can resemble several parallel performances that happen to share a stage. Attention and presence are the ground under reacting, partnering and building a shared game. And a shared life.

BLOCKS

3 tools🔒 IMPROSapiens

My way… or highway!

Humanity has discovered a great many ways of making things go our way, or… not at all. In improv we call them BLOCKS. And yes — we all use them, every single day. It's worth knowing what arsenal you carry for blocking your partners and the situation — so you can put down whatever works for you before you step on stage. And before you go home.

HUMOUR

2 tools🔒 IMPROSapiens

Funny is more complicated than it looks.

One thing is what amuses you. Another is what you amuse other people with. And another again: what your humour does to the people around you. And to you. Here you'll find out, among other things, whether your humour builds closeness or occasionally catches someone with a chair. Metaphorically. Usually.

EVALUATIONS

2 tools🔒 IMPROSapiens

Because being a team is way more than only playing together.

This set takes the wide view of your improv craft. It also shows what's happening in the group: whether you see each other, react, catch a shared rhythm, or can already read each other's minds. You can rate yourself. You can get feedback from the others. You can do a 360°. And even your coach can throw in her two pennies' worth. Or not. Although… she has been known to take a bribe, so… try a doughnut.

Padlocked tests unlock with the name of your group — your coach has it. Haven't got one yet? Join a workshop →
